I teach, I learn, but not necessarily in that order.

I joined the teaching profession after working in the creative business world for over 7 years.  Although I loved what I did, there was always a need to work and mentor today's teenagers.  I am constantly telling my students how they are always teaching and inspiring me to be a better educator.   The profession and the classroom has changed since I first entered in 1996.  With these changes have brought about new challenges and approaches to better meet the needs of today's learner.   The world has become a much smaller place with the increasing presence of technology.  Today's mobile technologies offer opportunities to expand the learning environment beyond the traditional classroom.

My curiosity of these devices as well as my love of learning has started a new journey for me.  After completed my M.Ed at UOIT, I have started my journey as a doctoral candidate with the University of Calgary.   I have the opportunity to explore the learning sciences at a deeper level.  There is so much research out there that is generating incredible ideas and learning opportunities for our students.  We all need to be part of the discussion as educators, students and parents.
